assume
原義は「(人)に(～の)態度をとる」。1.論理展開をする際、ある事をもっともらしいものとして、「仮定する(決めてかかる)」という意味で使う。 従来の考え方や実例などから判断して仮定するときに使う。 2.ある事を説明する際、「(～であることを)前提する」という意味で使う。
例文：
1-1) An energy width of 0.7 eV and an illumination angle of 0.2 mrd were assumed in obtaining a contrast-transfer function.
コントラスト伝達関数を求めるにあたり、エネルギー幅0.7eVおよび照射角0.2mrdと仮定された。

分散面の小さな領域にわたっては、われわれは分散γがほぼ一定であると仮定する。
