クライオ電顕において生物系試料を観察する際に用いる試料ホルダ。クライオワークステーションと併用することで、液体窒素温度下でマイクログリッドに載せた試料を装填することができる。液体窒素デューワーが備えられており、先端部は液体窒素温度に保たれる。ホルダを電子顕微鏡に挿入する際に、短時間ではあるが先端部が外気にさらされるため、試料への霜の付着を防ぐためのシャッターが装備されている。

A specimen holder used for biological specimen observation in cryo-electron microscopy. A biological specimen on a microgrid is loaded on the specimen holder in the cryo-workstation under liquid nitrogen temperature. The holder is connected to a Dewar for Liq. N₂ and the tip of the holder is maintained at the liquid-nitrogen temperature. When the holder is inserted into the electron-microscope column, the tip of the holder is exposed to the air (though in a short time), thus the holder incorporates a shutter to prevent frost deposition to the specimen.
