be attributed to
原義(attribute)は「～に与える→あてがう、割り当てる、～に帰する」。"A is attributed to B"で、「Aの原因、起源がBに帰する(Bのせいである)」という意味で使う。"be scribed to"と、ほぼ同義。賞賛ときには批判の感情を含む場合にも使う。
