transmit
原義は「向こうへ送る」。一般的な用法の意味は、「物を送る、発送する」、「電波によるラジオ、テレビ放送を送信する」、「電波信号などが伝わる」、「電気、光、熱、音などを通す」などがある。科学技術論文では、試料が電子や電磁波を「透過する、通す」(他動詞用法)というように使う。

In TEM, specimens are prepared thin enough to transmit electrons.
TEMでは、試料は、電子を透過するよう十分に薄く作製される。
例文：
The incident electrons can be easily transmitted for crystalline specimens.
入射電子は、結晶性試料に対しては容易に透過する。
