treat
原義は「引く→引いて回る→取り扱う」。一般的な用法の第一の意味は、「人や動物などを(大切に、あるいは乱暴に)扱う、待遇する」。科学技術論文では、1.物を「扱う」、2.事を「扱う、論ずる」、3.物を「薬品などで化学的に処理する」という意味で使う。"deal with"と違い、「困難な問題にうまく対処する」という意味はない。
