電子ビーム発生装置。陰極から電子を放出させ、陽極に向かって加速させることによって電子ビームを作る。
電子ビームは所定のエネルギーに加速される。電子放出のメカニズムの違いで、熱電子放出型銃（熱電子銃）、電界放出型電子銃、ショットキー型電子銃の3種類がある。

An electron beam generator. An electron beam is produced by emitting electrons from the cathode and by accelerating the electrons towards the anode.
The electron beam is accelerated up to a designated energy. Depending on the mechanism of the emission of electrons, there are three types of electron guns; 1) thermionic-emission gun, 2) field-emission electron gun (FEG) and 3) Schottky-emission electron gun.
