two-window method

EELSによる定性的元素マッピングに用いる方法。試料の同じ場所から、ある元素の内殻励起の直前のバックグラウンド強度I₁と励起の直後のスペクトル強度I₂を測定しI = I₂/I₁を計算する方法。この方法で二次元マッピングすると、定量性には欠けるが簡単に定性元素マッピングができる。

A method used for qualitative element (elemental) mapping by EELS. In the "two-window method," a background intensity immediately before the inner-shell excitation (I₁) and the peak intensity at the inner-shell excitation (I₂) of a certain element are acquired. The ratio I = I₂/ I₁ is calculated. This method enables us to easily perform qualitative element mapping though it does not have a sufficient quantitative accuracy.
